A frosty start in the Dordogne

We woke to a beautiful crisp frost. The land was covered in a blanket of white and the silence was complete. Not a thing stirred. It really was magnificent and perfect for a walk across the land. As the day warmed up so life stirred once more and we enjoyed a day outdoors.

Happy New Year

The New Year has brought beautiful frosty nights and glorious moons. It is a wonderful time of the year with the countryside seemingly asleep but still showing signs of life and waiting for the Spring.

Ruscus Aculeatus

Autumn Leaves

It has been a busy time collecting the leaves but the exercise and the pleasure of being outdoors means it has been fun. The front terrace is once again looking neat.

Jardin d’eau

Yesterday we took ourselves off to visit the Jardin d’eau. This is a lovely water garden with two different styles of garden. The first consists of walkways across the  pools filled with different water lilies and lotus plants. The second is a stroll around a natural pond that showcases bog plants as well as lilies.

The campsis flowers

It has taken three years of patience for the Campsis Bignone to eventually flower. Having envied  magnificent displays in neighbouring gardens hopefully we are now on the way to a beautiful show of our own.
